Sainsbury V 189 Indexicality/BurgeVsTarski: (1979) Burge uses the term in a narrower sense than Tarski's: in a way that it only relates to circumstances - there are then different levels of truth and which is the relevant level, is not determined by the meaning of the sentence, but by the statement which is made during an occasion. Sainsbury: this avoids many difficulties associated with Tarski's hierarchy. Vs: it is hard to justify that "true" would be indexical. ((s) Cf.
